MTC Drums at the TONIGHT SHOW with Jay Leno
MTC Drums worked the other day as drum tech for the Blue Man Production
of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in Los Angeles. It was amazing
to be a part of the Blue Man Group as a drum tech! Each and every
person of the Blue Man team treated us like family, the whole 4 day
trip felt exactly like a long supper at the adorable “Olive
Garden” (The other day I was surprised to hear Olive Garden
is a chain!!!). Honestly, the Blue Man Group is a great company to
be invloved with. Thanks to our buddies Michael, Aaron, Blake , AJ
and everybody else involved! It was also nice to experience the both
professional and relaxed work attitude at the Jay Leno show.

New drums get you better gigs? Looks like the drum industry back
in 1928 was quite pushy? See what this gear-head writes in an old
drum brochure for LEEDYdrums in in 1928:
“
The drummer who is "on his toes" these days is more than
just the percussion department of the band or orchestra. He is a
feature of the organization - so much so that he often takes a bow
in appreciation for those who admire his work. Of course ability
and originality are the big factors that "put him over",
but these alone will not push on to success and the big money.
Now he must have a presentation of flash, color and beauty. It is
the mode of the times and the modern path to success. It also cuts
down the resistance in "selling" himself and his ability
- just as a beautiful dressed store window assists the merchant to
sell its wares. Beautiful drums are no longer a fad. There is sound
reasoning behind them. Beauty is magic. Beautiful drums quickly pay
for themselves. They are an opportunity to create not only the ultimate
of beauty in your work, but greater earnings.”
